"This is the sort of thing that happens when you let amateurs run a company. Mistakes. Miscalculations, yeah? If you're going to bank your success on lies and deception, you will fail...unless of course your company is already established."

"I don't think this company has a future. They're paying people in peer cash, not real currency. I mean, if I have a business and I'm going create incentives for my customers I'm going to reward them with real cash, not monopoly money."

"The recording industry can use someone like Gareth. Instead of charging $1 per song, the price will be $3 or $4 per song. More greedy idiots...that's exactly what that industry needs."

Part 2

AussieMatt: Since there's been some confusion over how the program works, I think it's best if we move on to the demonstration. In this demonstration, I will show you how Peer Impact works.

Chris: Can we then take turn downloading videos?

AussieMatt: No, like I said before you can't download videos

Gareth: You're still saying that?

Chris: Well then I'm off. If I can't download a video of a woman pleasuring her lover there's no point in staying.

David: heehee...Finchy!

AussieMatt: First, I'll show you how to download a song.

Gareth: How much money will you make from the download?

AussieMatt: Well...no, I won't make money from downloading. I'll be purchasing the song.

Tim: This is a pay service Gareth, you won't be making any money, you'll be spending it.

Gareth: No, that's not true. Right on their Website it states Download, join and get paid.

David: Well, you can't believe that now can you? If they can't spell correctly there are bound to be several errors on their Website.

AussieMatt: That's not an error!

Gareth: So I'm right.

AussieMatt: Well no, not quite. Songs cost around $0.99USD to download but once you download it you can share it with others and you can get up to 10% on each transaction. So if 1 person downloads the whole song from you, you'll make $0.099.

Tim: 10 cents. That's it?

Gareth: That means I would have lost money? That can't be right. Don't you have a manual you can use to double check this?

AussieMatt: Look, you won't make a profit by using Peer Impact. That's not what it's about...

Gareth: Of course it is, it says so several times on the Website. Right here it says make money...here it says earn money...

AussieMatt: It's not about the money. It's about sharing...

David: Sharing with your fellow man.

AussieMatt: Peer Impact allows artists to get paid by using peer to peer technology.

David: Innovation, yeah. Using 21st century tools.

AussieMatt: Umm...yes. It's about giving artists a new way to promote themselves. Stores are no longer needed for...

David: It's about breaking down barriers, yeah? Tearing down walls. Bringing everyone together.

AussieMatt: Yes...please can I continue?

David: Yeah sure, go on.

Gareth: Wait. This means that if I download a song and then resell it, I'll be taking a huge loss.

Dawn: Not only that Gareth, you might not get anything back at all.

AussieMatt: The ability to get some money back is just a bonus...

Gareth: Well I won't sell a song for only 10% of what I paid. When I resell I'm going to set the price at $3USD per song.

David Brent: Yeah, buy low sell high

AussieMatt: No...this isn't the stock market.

David Brent: But you can learn from it.

AussieMatt: You can't set your own prices. You can only get back a certain amount each time someone downloads a song from you.

Gareth: So, despite what your company claims on their Website, this means that my net profit will be higher if I use a free P2P program instead of this one even though I won't be making any money.

AussieMatt: You're missing the point.

Brent: Oohh...caught in a lie.

AussieMatt: NO I'M NOT! Look, you're all misunderstanding the whole concept! Besides, you'll be getting peer cash back, not actual money.

Gareth: What?

AussieMatt: Meaning peer cash can be used on future purchases.

Gareth: Well that's rubbish. I'll just sell the songs on eBay instead.

AussieMatt: NO! You can't do that!
